A Reason to Be

I have been looking for something deep and meaningful my entire life; something that will help many, many people. It would be a way for me to give back to the community, to do a great thing for the world.

But the question is, what? Sure I could donate to a foundation that fights cancer or heart disease. Maybe sponsor some poor children in the third world. That would help, but it’s not that big a deal. It’s not something I can put on my resume, which after all, is the holy grail of philanthropy. It’s not like I founded a cancer society. Now that would be something.

Upon further research it became obvious to me that all the good stuff is taken. There’s nothing left to found. Too many people have been out there padding their resumes already.

So I began to think of how the world needs to change. What can I do? How is the world suffering?

And fortunately, I found it. Each and every day I see car after car after car on our roads and highways, and it breaks my heart. All those beautiful alloy wheels covered in disgusting brake dust. I just can’t live with it any longer. So today, I’m forming a new organization, the Society for the Prevention of Brake Dust Build-up on Aluminum-Alloy Wheels, which can be shortened to the sexy ‘SPBDBAAW’. I encourage you to join me!
