I am not one for theme weekends, but sometimes they just sort of happen. Like this one, for example.
Yesterday, I went to the movies with my significant other. We saw Indy 4. It was entirely appropriate, I thought.
Today, we watched the Indy 500. Scott Dixon won it, but it was largely uneventful - no horrible crashes, and no dramatic turns of events. All told, I will probably remember Indy 4 more.

I do backups regularly. I have a two-tier system. One backup transfers essential files, password protected, to a distant location. The other backup makes backups of all my personal files to a USB hard disk. Also, my pictures are stored on flickr, which acts as a backup of sorts.
Unfortunately, the only things I forgot to backup were the backup scripts that I wrote. And guess what happened? That’s right - I lost them. I was attempting to run a full backup, which was supposed to change directory to my USB hard drive and delete all contents. The change directory command failed. But the script carried on, wiping out everything in the directory where my backup script was stored. At least that’s what I assume happened. I no longer have the backup script so I can’t exactly review the logic.
Now I gotta write the damn script over from scratch…

(For those not in the know, that’s Evan Longoria does not equal Eva Longoria)

I think I’ll take 4 months for $120, Alex.

So you have a city with a limited water supply. Let’s say, oh, Tucson, Arizona. Now if you have no water meters installed, you have no way of measuring how much any single household is using. You can’t implement a per-gallon usage fee.
You need a way to get the whole city to save water. You can try fines and penalties for lawn watering and such, but that is a pain to enforce. If you want to reduce your overall usage, keep reading. Otherwise, turn to page 41.
What you need is a city-wide incentive. Say for example, that you’ll drop the mil rate if usage drops below a specified threshold for a given period of time. Then publish that amount. Regularly. In everyone’s faces.
